Sam Hunt Tried Out For The Kansas City Chiefs Before "Body Like A Backroad" Fame

Let’s go back to the late 2000s… Remember these songs?

Yeah, Kenny Chesney and Keith Urban co-wrote these hits with up-and-coming songwriter, Sam Hunt.

The original plan for Sam was to play professional football, but when a brief tryout with the Kansas City Chiefs didn’t work out, he moved to Nashville in 2008 with no music industry contacts. He started out as a songwriter and became known for blurring genre lines with pop + country and his “talk-sing” style.

He started recording his own demos and eventually released mixtapes independently, which led to MCA Nashville signing him in 2014. From there, Sam Hunt brought on a new wave of modern country music.
