This will be a tearjerker – let’s go back to December 4th 1991, where iconic mom and daughter duo, Naomi and Wynonna Judd, performed their emotional farewell show
Earlier that year, Naomi Judd revealed that she had been diagnosed with Hepatitis C, which at the time was a little-understood and potentially fatal condition. Doctors told Naomi that she needed to stop touring for her health, leading to the farewell tour
Their farewell performance is considered one of the most powerful moments in country music history, which included some of their biggest hits, “Love Can Build A Bridge,” “Girls Night Out,” and my favorite, “Why Not Me”
Wynonna took the spotlight multiple times, symbolizing the passing of the torch to her solo career. Naomi continued to receive extensive treatment for Hepatitis C, eventually went into remission, and became an advocate for the disease – writing books and appearing on TV
The country community was shattered to learn of Naomi Judd’s passing in April of 2022, and just a day after, the Judds were inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame
